What is a Shell Home?
Our shell homes are contemporary, low energy buildings, built as a serviced, weather tight external shell, with the inside limited to internal floors and stairs to allow the customer to decide how they want to design and fit it out.
The shell itself comprises:
- A fully watertight, super insulated building, completed externally
- Triple glazed windows, doors and roof windows.
- Internal floors
- Internal stairs
- Insulated ground floor with underfloor heating pipes already laid in a concrete screed.
- Incoming gas, electricity and water, and is fully connected to the surface water and foul water system.
- Garden in excess of 60m²
- Min. 2 private parking spaces with ducting for an EV charger
- Solar panels to reduce bills further (generally 4.5kW)
Working with our award-winning team of our two registered Architects to refine your layout, starting with a shell allows for total internal personalisation – in layout, décor, fixtures and fittings, kitchens and bathrooms, number of bedrooms, renewable technology additions etc. There’s no need to live with something that’s ‘not you’ or pay for a house with either a space you won’t need or the wrong layout.
